I believe in being polite and taking into consideration with whom you are speaking to. But I do not believe in denying the truth, or I should say "my truth" when asked . If someone is asking my opinion on a subject, I will, of course, be polite, but not withhold simply because it is not politically correct to say..Now, did that make the least bit of sense?....

It depends on how you define it, doesnt it?

Wikipedia has a pretty good (and no doubt tortuously wrangled-out) definition of PC and PI in its lede: "[PC is] a term which denotes language, ideas, policies, and behavior seen as seeking to minimize social and institutional offense in occupational, gender, racial, cultural, sexual orientation, disability, and age-related contexts. In current usage, the term is primarily pejorative,[1][2] while the term politically incorrect has been used as an implicitly positive self-description. Examples of the latter include the conservative Politically Incorrect Guides published by the Regnery editorial house[3] and the television talk show Politically Incorrect. In these cases, the term politically incorrect connotes language, ideas, and behavior unconstrained by a perceived orthodoxy or by concerns about offending or expressing bias regarding various groups of people."

I have no use for being politically correct.

There is a huge difference between being polite, and being PC.

Ever watch a local news program on TV where they are searching for a bank robber who carjacked an elderly couple and escaped in their car and they are asking the public to be aware that this bad guy is out in the community, so please keep an eye open and call the police if you see him?

Then they'll give his height and weight and say he has black hair and brown eyes. But they won't say what color/race he is because we are all supposed to be so PC. Dear Channel 7: Is he Black? Hispanic? Asian? White? Knowing that would be a real big help but heaven forbid should we actually say the person's race out loud. (Los Angeles is especially horrible on this.)

It's gone too far and is just plain silly.

Sometimes it's useful. At the very least it gives us pause and forces us to think about what we really want to say and how to best say it.

Personally I'm not very PC and sometimes come off as a little rude. But I pay attention more, and try to be more PC when I'm with people I don't know very well.

I agree about that, though it may not be as systemic as it used to be. "Subject is described as...."

Actually the last bank robbery around here, which was just blocks from my house, let everyone know that the robber was a white guy.

I remember there was a bank robbery in Kalamazoo also, just a few years back. They said "The suspect is African American....."

I'm not sure about it where you are. Also, they can't say for certain what race the suspect is, because they are wearing long sleeves, a mask, and gloves.
