On Yahoo there is a discussion concerning Michelle Obama's trip to Spain. The right wingers are tearing her a new one for spending taxpayer's money. So since we had national debt before Obama took office that makes it Ok for Michelle to blow tax payer money on her private vacation which will be her 8th this year. Thanks for clearing that up.

Some of us complained about spending during Bush's administration too.

Poor past action does not justify poor current behavior.

LMAO!!

Reagan and the Bushes borrow 80% of our total debt mostly to finance low tax rates for their wealthy supporters and you think the first lady spending $100,000 for her annual vacation is terrible. Well...at least we are learning what happened to my old party. When I was a Republican they stood for balanced budgets, small government and individual rights. Yes...the last time I voted Republican was in 1984 when I voted for Ronald Reagan. I've only voted in a national election twice since then, 2004 and 2008. I didn't vote for John Kerry and Barack Obama...I voted against the spend and borrow Republicans.

This is my voting record:

1956 Eisenhower
1960 Nixon
1964 Barry Goldwater
1968 Nixon
1972 Nixon
1976 Did Not Vote
1980 Anderson(I)
1984 Ronald Reagan
1988 Did Not Vote
1992 Did Not Vote
1996 Did Not Vote
2000 Did Not Vote
2004 John Kerry **
2008 Barack Obama **

** Voted Against Spend And Borrow Republicans

TO ME...TAX AND SPEND IS BETTER THAN SPEND AND BORROW, MUCH BETTER!

I don't know what you mean?

Do you pay off one of five credit cards you hold and go and open up new debt against two more?

Low tax rates for the wealthy has cost the middle class in this country any semblance of what they used to have. Meanwhile those 2% of the wealthiest Americans have banked trillions of taxpayer's dollars. That is if you assume it will ever be paid.

Do you realize that when Ronald Reagan took over the annual interest payment on the total debt was less than $40 billion?

Do you realize that now, because of the new debt created by Reagan and the Bushes the annual interest payment is over $400 billion??

For comparison America spends about $100 billion on education and less than that on the infrastructure. Each year before a penny is spent we owe a new $400 billion.

When is this country going to learn that those with the money will do anything to not only keep it but fleece more at any cost?

In George W. Bush's first cabinet meeting Cheney said that Reagan proved the debt doesn't matter. Maybe that's true(I doubt it) but the annual interest does.

Spoken like a true socialist. When people are allowed to keep through tax cuts more of the money they earn somehow this is taking taxpayers' dollars? When you look at it that way we truly work for the government which, in its generosity, gives us an allowance--like we were children. Well the "children" are rebelling and the ruling class had better beware.

we complained about the spending for the last 30 years

btw, presidents dont spend much..the congress does

do you agree with the bush/obama bailouts of FAILED companies???? I dont.. I blame bush and obama and congress for WASTING MONEY

do YOU agree with spending 1 trillion on a stimulus that has not worked.... I dont

no I do agree with spending for the seniors (ie medicare part d)...what I dont understand is why medicare is not 100% coverage, and why we have our seniors BUY a suplemental insurance...yet medicaid is 100%.....doesnt seem fair to me

to much entitlements given out, and less and less workers to carry the load
