Americans have more holidays than any other nation! This cuts down on production and makes the workers lazy.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to reduce the number of holidays? Let's say, 4 holidays per year are more than enough. I propose that we should eliminate Labor Day. Instead, it should be Executives Day - a day when corporate big wigs can have the day off.
Also, vacation time can be reduced to one week per year. That is plenty.

You mean the government workers, right?
People in the private sector have much less time off.
Private companies don't observe all the holidays the government does.

No, all workers, corporate or government.

Seriously why do folks seem incapable of checking even the easiest of facts before posting a thread or comment?

Well that was the most patently absurd comment made so far today.

I'm guessing/hoping the OP is being facetious.

It used to be that governmental employees got more perks because their salary's were lower than the private sector.

Now, they earn more, get more holidays, vacation time, pension ...

What a crock.

Guess you should have become a federal employee.

This doesn't fit with my experience. I've worked with people in many countries and they have all had more time off than we do. Most have had 6 weeks of vacation that they had to take.

You know that's because government jobs have actually kept up with inflation. The private sector jobs have not. You made more in real dollars in the 50's, 60's and very early 70's than you do now for the same work in the private sector, even as productivity of the private sector worker has greatly increased.
