Time to bring back the guillotine? All levels of government now exists simply to rob people with actual jobs, and give them to do-nothing who have government jobs.

The lady working behind the counter at the DMV who can't be bothered to answer your question while she does her nails? She's making 120 grand a year.

And to think republicans want to put a cap on federal compensation! How unfair that is.

"Americans are fed up with public employee pay scales far exceeding that in the private sector," says Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., the second-ranking Republican in the House.
Sen. Ted Kaufman, D-Del., says a pay freeze would unfairly scapegoat federal workers without addressing real budget problems.

Don't expect much from the Big Government liberal crowd on discussing this. At least not an intelligent one. We are insane for allowing this crap to continue. Why do we stand by and let the gov over pay gov employees?
There should be no pay increases for gov jobs until private sector pay catches up, if it ever does.

I like the idea that I get up and go to work in the a.m. to help pay the healthy pension of a government worker whom retired in their fifties.

NOT.

This sums it up very well:

"Americans are fed up with public employee pay scales far exceeding that in the private sector," says Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., the second-ranking Republican in the House.
Sen. Ted Kaufman, D-Del., says a pay freeze would unfairly scapegoat federal workers without addressing real budget problems.

They must be kidding, average federal worker making $123,049 what a laugh. More Chamber of Commerce propaganda. You know they spent more money lobbying congress than congress made in salary. Lets point the finger at each other while the rich walk off with 40% of the economy

Other than to rant, why do you make assinine statements?

The lady at the DMV is a STATE employeen not federal.

If you compare all federal employees against all non-federal pay and benefits you have to know who is in pool.

In the non-federal workforce you have all levels of pay, burgerflippers, clerks in stores, and all the other minimum pay jobs which brings the overall average pay way down.

Today, most federal workers have a college education or experience in a particular field. The feds got rid of almost all trade people so they aren't in the equation anymore. There are very few secratary type jobs. With the aintroduction of computers secretarial jobs were phased out.

Many on here have gone on and on about how important a college education is. You can't compare people with a college education with minimum wage people.

On the surface the article looks real bad but, when you dig into the weeds it might not be as bad as it was made out to be.

As is said,"when you have your head in the oven and your feet in an ice bucket, on average you feel OK".

Or 35K, but who's counting? What does 85k/year difference matter when you are trying to distort reality to make your political ignorance believable.

Well if you put it in perspective the government workers have been there the whole time..single job over decades so of course their salary would go up.

Non government workers..average is what..5 years at a job. So if you spend your career job hopping you most likely never make it up there in longevity salary. I'm with my company 22+ years and I see that I'm better off salary wise then some others in my field who job hop.
You may go get hired for that quick boost in salary but the raises are a long time coming.

Just saying..you need to compare apples to apples.

Government employees are paid better because their salaries have actually risen with inflation over the years. They aren't overpaid. The rest of us are underpaid. Real wages have gone down (except for a tiny blip at the end of the Clinton years) since the early seventies while the productivity of the average worker has dramatically increased. Back in the 50's and 60's, you could raise a family on one income. That's nearly impossible now for the vast majority of people. And that's a shame for us as a country.
