So Obama made his speech today which was filled with mostly garbage and no substance. He said the border has never been more secure in the past 20 years. LOL Really? We are so secure that border violence is spilling over to our country? We are so secure that Phoenix became in the top 2 of being the kidnap capital of the world? We're so secure, that a state finally got fed up with the government not doing enough to...secure the border...that they took the federal law thats not being enforced and are going to enforce it themselves?

Then he went on to talk about the need for immigration reform (aka the collection of votes for Dems). He mentioned people are skeptical of both blanket amnesty and mass deportation. Sure, something needs to be done. But instead of SECURING THE BORDER, hed rather focus on getting Hispanic votes. What happened to "yes we can" Barry? That, afterall, was the chant your rat followers were hypnotized into chanting over and over. Now you and your Admin tell us we cant seal the border. We cant do this, we cant do that. Its more like YOU WONT DO THIS, YOU WONT DO THAT.

This man is completely out of touch with American, and he does so purposely. This man has been a divider since he took office. To stand up there and have audacity to say that the border is secure, to race bait and talk about illegals' rights. You sir, are disgrace. He is a man that will fight for the rights of suspected terrorists and ILLEGALS, yet does little to ensure the rights of citizens.

He is just trying to keep promises made to special interests that contributed heavily to his campaign...nothing more...nothing less..

So he will continue pursuing the question of comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty) to appease those special interests...

Certainly clear why Janet Napolitano has backed off aggressive enforcement of laws prohibiting employers from hiring illegals...note there has been no raids on large meat packing corporations of late..??

Obama said that or the idiot from California (Pete Stark) said that? I saw Stark say it on videotape.

“'If you knew anything about our borders, you would know that’s not the case. Our borders are quite secure, thank you,' Stark said."

YouTube - THE BORDERS ARE QUITE SECURE. Congressman Pete Stark's Town hall meeting in Fremont CA

They are all out of touch. They are so desperate for the Hispanic vote that they will lie through their teeth because they think the American public is too dumb to think for themselves and not believe what they see.

I just re-read some of the speech again. This guy is unbelievable. He misrepresents the Deceleration of Independence and speaks of the ILLEGAL immigration issue as if we are a nation that shuts out immigrants.

We are a nation that has opened its door and take in millions a year LEGALLY. Yet here he is, talking as if we spit upon immigrants and shut all of them out. He uses the Statue of Liberty as if its some sort of GPS signal for anyone who wants to come here. Its the Statue of LIBERTY, not Statue of Immigration.
We have paths to citizenship. We take in plenty of immigrants. It is not a RIGHT for anyone who wants to come here to be allowed to do so. yet this man seems open to that notion.

Remember his words. He doesnt believe in American exceptionalism. He believes no nation should be allowed to be greater than another. Do you believe that?! Would you rather see America decline just so things are "equal" with the rest of the world?! What better way to further pull down America than by letting nearly any who wants to come here, be allowed to. What better way than to destroy our economy. If you dont think this man's actions are to purposely cut our nation down to size, then you obviously havent been listening to his own words nor paid attention to his actions.

I'm a liberal, anti-amnesty Democrat, and I thought his speech was a piece of garbage. The worst part was when he compared it to the Jews escaping Europe. The U.S DID turn away a lot of Jews and send them back home...or should I say death camps. I found that very disgusting.

It is the same type of blunder when Gerald Ford said that eastern europe was not under the control of the Soviets in the Carter/Ford presidential debates.

Obama is insane. Impeach Obama.

I didn't read anything in this speech that was accurate, his words were non factual, non truthful or twisted. His buzz words "rounding up" and "mass deportation" are not what self deportation is about through attrition. Also we are not all a nation of immigrants, period. Even my grandparents were born here of European descent and I'm over age 50.

Our borders have been wide open since 1492. Why all the sudden interest in moat, barricade, fence, vigilante check-point charlies now?

Our immigration system does need to be overhauled. Granted, our borders do need to be secured, but we also need a technologically, up to date system to track those who enter the U.S. on student Visas or other visas. Most illegals here entered legally, but have visas that have expired. (guess what...they ain't Mexican!) We also need to hold all of the corporations (big-Agriculture; meatpacking corporations, i.e., Iowa Beef, Tyson, Simmons Chicken, Smithville Farms, ect.) accountable for actively recruiting and exploiting undocumented workers. If those companies or any other industry was facing a minimum of 3 years in jail (yes, jail the CEOs) then you might see a change.

Amnesty must be included in any overhaul. 1) It is unethical, unchristian, and inhumane to separate a child who was born here, educated here, and is NOT a citizen of some other country from parents who are here illegally. 2) If someone has been here for X number of years, say five or ten years, and have not had any legal issues then they should be put on a track to becoming a legal citizen.

Yes, we are a nation if emigrants. Unless you are a full-blood of an Indigenous Tribal Nation, as was my father, then you are nothing but a descendent of an emigrant. Peroid.

Nope, the U.S is not a nation of immigrants. The vast majority of poople were born here. You got that wrong, of course. Also, the chikdren are Mexican citizens and can go back to Mexico. The bla bla bla about "separating children and parents" is bull****. First of all, that does not apply to most illegals. And there are children whose parents went to jail. If your parents commit a cimre, they gotta pay for it. It's not my problem.
