I'm sure if you polled segregation in the south in the 50's and 60's, it would poll well too.

Didn't make it right though, did it?

They polled 606 people.
Ample sampling for a population of 308 million?
Where was the location of the polling? NC?

Not an issue of civil rights, simply an issue of wanting a definition to adjust to fit a minorities interpretation.

Now if you are talking about civil unions, then that is a separate discussion.

It's interesting how younger kids are more receptive to this change than older generations.

I'm thinking it will happen. No matter how much some resist, civil rights fights always seems to go the way of the "oppressed" as they should.

No, and I bet an even higher percentage of people would have said no to interracial marriage during the 50's and 60's.

I'm sure that civil rights in Alabama in 1960 was a minority issue, where they wanted to change things to their interpretation, correct?

But they should be in the hands of an over-bearing government?

Let me guess: You hold this view unless the civil right in question offends you, correct?

The collective wisdom of the people know better than the government. That's how it's supposed to work in America. Unfortunately, there seems to be a cadre of people in this nation who forget this most basic tenet of of our Founding.

Shameful.

There was a specific reason we didn't use a direct Democracy, instead of the democratic republic we did use. Its because mob rule, is bad.
