We already have death panels. The GOP is at the head of them by denying coverage to all Americans, many Americans have no insurance and can't afford care.

"Exempted themselves," what do you mean? They have federal medical insurance like other fed employees.

If the drug is not providing any value to the patient why should it continue?

Semi off topic, being in a family with a spouse in the healthcare profession we understand that wise decisions have to be made in patient care.

When a 95 year old heart attack victim has a family telling heart surgeons to do everything they can to save them this has lasting negative effects on society as a result of a families unwise and downright selfish decision.

In patient care sometimes others, who are more educated, have to step in and make decisions not based on emotion but derived from rationality.

Why are they not accused of being death panels?
They are. A lot of people complain about insurance companies. Obamacare was supposed to fix that and make health care available to all regardless of ability to pay for expensive care/treatment. Problem is... it doesn't.

Obama = FAIL

And what exactly would that "something" be? Should the government step in and control private citizens' pay? I don't understand what it is you're advocating here.

So you advocate for the government to set age limits for certain treatments, therapies, and surgical procedures as opposed to allowing the physician and family make those decisions?

Who are these "more educated" people that you want to step in and make life and death decisions devoid of emotion? Isn't that the physician's role? To educate the family on probable outcomes and best course of treatment given the patient's physical condition, status, and likelihood of recovery? Wouldn't that patient's physician have a better understanding of all of that than some government official behind a desk 1,000 miles away dictating age restrictions and denying care?

Wow, just wow. I can't come to terms with the idea that people actually WANT the government to step in between the doctor-patient relationship and make decisions for them. I guess the old adage of 'be careful what you wish for because you might just get it' rings true, only some people are too ignorant to understand what it is they're advocating.

Our system certainly needs overhauling but I'm afraid obamas plan to enrich the insurance companies by forcing folks to pay high rates is going to fail. And make no mistake the rates will be as high as a mortgage payment per month. Many will choose high deductibles to avoid high monthly rates in which care is still not affordable for many middle class people. It will hurt smaller private businesses not corporations, not state and federal governments because they'll still get the sweetheart deals from these thieves.

Which is why health care reform as a major political issue is not going to go away anytime soon. It will hurt ordinary Americans as premiums go up, deductibles go up, co-pays go up and as corporations reduce benefits. Americans can be surprisingly non-idealogical when it is their pocket book that is hurting.
