NYT: Venezuela now deadlier than Iraq - World news - The New York Times - msnbc.com

In Iraq, a country with about the same population as Venezuela, there were 4,644 civilian deaths from violence in 2009, according to Iraq Body Count; in Venezuela that year, the number of murders climbed above 16,000.

Even Mexico’s infamous drug war has claimed fewer lives.

But Obama has sued Arizona for trying to keep the bloodbath out of their American state.
People hate Arizona for trying to protect themselves and their children.
What a joke.

The killings take place in Mexico, so if you want to be safe, then stay on this side of the border.

PS This is not an Obama thread.

Yep, Mexico is much more dangerous than Iraq. Heck, I worked in Mexico for the past four years and was in the Mid East two years prior to that. My team and family were amazed of how the media hardly ever reported the mass murders in Mexico, but yet, had Iraq on tv day in and day out. HELLO MEDIA, Mexico is in our backyard(especially mine, I live in Texas)....

Only certain regions, mostly the border region of Mexico are dangerous. Much of Mexico has homicide rates lower than US cities, Mexico City's murder rate is not high compared to other huge cities. Even where there is a lot of violence, it's mostly targetted violence, except for Juarez where carjackings are way up.
