Actually a number of people said this at the end of one of our most revered documents as they signed it.
And for the support of this Declaration,
with a firm reliance
on the protection
of Divine Providence,
we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.
Of course, all those men who signed the Declaration of Independence said just this with their signatures. Remember that Thomas Jefferson wrote this thing so maybe he wasn't as much deist as many of the progressive movement would have us believe.
no, I'm as conservative as they come, and jefferson was a deist. I own a copy of the jefferson bible. TJ had much respect for jesus christ the moral philosopher, but TJ was more of a deist. he believed in a creator, but he was skeptical of the bible.

I don't know what Divine Providence is but I do know that Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence.
that's fine. there is a big difference in admitting there is a god, and accepting jesus christ as your savior.
