The July 23 Facebook comment and subsequent exchange has been removed, but a screen-shot showed it originated with Ravndal posting that "Marriage is between a man and a woman period! By giving rights to those otherwise would be a violation of the Constitution and my own rights."
That post prompted a response from another Facebook user, who wrote: "I think fruits are decorative. Hang up where they can be seen and appreciated. Call Wyoming for display instructions."
To that, Ravndal responded: "Where can I get that Wyoming printed instruction manual?"
The reference to Wyoming refers to the killing of Matthew Shepard, who police say was attacked because he was gay.
The Tea Party is wise to get rid of leaders like that. Large numbers of Americans may not embrace homosexuality, but they certainly don't condone violence against gays.
it's a good decision to fire him. he has the right to say whatever he wants, but it's good politics to can him. also, anyone who advocates violence against anyone, is an idiot.
In all fairness, he may not have realized what the reference was. I didn't get it until I read the explanation. And I've seen the movie about that poor kid. Violence is dispicable but this guy may just be guilty of stupidity.
Either you didn't understand the implication of what was said, or you think that talking about killing gays is acceptable. I hope it's the former.
It only means what you think it means because you want it to. How about the possibility of that remark being sarcastic as in, "show me this instruction manual that you say exists". That's how I took it.
Interestingly enough, the killer of Shepard has stated his sexuality had nothing to do with the crime...but that doesn't fit into what some want to believe.

Then why would he say, "Where can I get that Wyoming instruction manual?" If he didn't understand the reference, it wouldn't make sense for him to have said that.

The point is that the president of the Montana Tea Party clearly understood the implication being made, but if you sympathize with killing gays or think it's funny, I can understand why you would defend him.
