Social Security was paid into by you. It's a retirement fund. You are not taking the money of everyone else, you are being repaid a debt the US government owes to you. Assuming you have a job, you pay into the other programs as well. Everyone stop with the communist nonsense already.

Same with the Army and government pension. They don't give that out unless you WERE IN THE ARMY or WORKED FOR THE GOVERNMENT. Those both entail EARNING what you are now receiving. That's not communist or socialist, you earned it. It's a debt owed to you.

I say again, there is no reason to bandy about the words socialist or communist, unless you are speaking of something that is actually one of those things. Social Security and your Army pension are neither.

I have been on Social security for 12 years and have taken out more than I put in. The Veterans Administration which provides medical and compensation is certainly Socialist. I would even be drawing CRDP for disabled military retirees if the GOBP/FOX hadn't shot it down twice this year.
The idea that something is socialist except when it applies to me is bogus

You took out more than you put in. That doesn't make it socialist, any more than another government service. All government is taxed from the people, it does not make money as a business. Revenue is taxes. It pays for the things we need, like a military. Part of the military is human beings fighting wars, and part of THAT is covering their medical costs as repayment for their service. It's not socialist, It's just plain old government.

Social Security/Social Security Disability Insurance and Medicare are being paid by todays workers. Money paid in by you was used years ago to finance the payments given to the retirees of the past. Many of them are collecting as much as 10 times what they paid into the system depending on how long they have lived.

Modern mass armies and large permanent armed forces are a socialist idea. Before the rise of socialism and the French Revolution. Armies weren't large and were usually mercenary because they were expensive so they were either assembled as militias or at the point of a bayonette. Armies assembled that way were often poorly motivated and not very loyal to the sovereign. Modern taxation (a socialist idea) made the large peoples army a reality.

I say again, there is no reason to bandy about the words socialist or communist, unless you are speaking of something that is actually one of those things. Social Security and your Army pension are neither.
