"The average unpaid tax bill is $12,787 among the Senate's delinquent taxpayers and $15,498 among those working in the House. The IRS data does not identify delinquent taxpayers by name, party affiliation or job title and does not indicate whether any members of Congress are among the scofflaws. It shows 638 employees, or about 4 percent, of the 18,000 Hill workers owe money, a slightly higher percentage than the 3 percent delinquency rate among all returns filed nationwide."

Here's the breakdown by department:

Notice 1,204 people in the Treasury Department (where the IRS resides) owed back taxes in 2009.

Plain and simple, garnish their wages for the back taxes + interest. Timmy Geithner owes interest too. He was let off the hook. Make the cheat pay!

The sooner we get away from "income tax" and go to an across the board consumption tax the sooner the corruption will be cleaned up.

That's our ruling class.
Do as we say, not as we do.

Why would they use subsidized health care for low income people?

They already use the federal employees' health care exchange, as do hundreds of thousands of other fed employees, to access regular insurance companies.

Now that you all have gotten you hate out, lets look at the details. The article lists the number of people who owe taxes. Question, how many federal employees are there in total?

I'll bet on average they are no more or less than the US average.

I was a federal worker and I owed every year. Before I became a federal worker I owed every year. I always filled for an extension.

Looks another Wash. Post hit piece to me.

41 Obama White House aides owe the IRS $831,000 in back taxes -- and they're not alone

Quote:
But we do know that as of the end of 2009, 41 people inside Obama's very own White House owe the government they're allegedly running a total of $831,055 in back taxes. That would cover a lot of special chocolate desserts in the White House Mess.
Taxes for thee, but not for me.

Absolutely disgusting - What great fodder for November.
