I'm all for a law mandating that English be the official language of the USA.

However, the law must be clear that it is 'the King's English' that is official, that is to say, after 1600 A.D. (the language of Shakespeare).

With proper grammar usage and correct spelling, of course.

When people talk of "big government" they are referring to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, not the state. When the country was founded, most states had an offical state-sponsored religion.

You agree with me 100% that immigrants should assimilate to their new homeland but then do not want any laws on the books that do not cater to their speaking a different language,how is assimilation possible?
