I am getting closer and closer to 50 years old and as each year goes by I get more and more conservative in my beliefs in social issues. I go to the shopping mall and see lots of people in their teens and 20s hanging out and so many of them are so sloppy and uncouth. I see the more formal serious looking younger people who seem to live the life encouraged by the conservative principals and I respect them more. The conservatives seem to have more self respect and discipline. The ones who live a conservative lifestyle and follow the ideals of political conservatives seem to have it more together.

So what do you think about respecting conservative philosphies more as you get older?

I have gotten more liberal, or at least libertarian, both as I have became better educated and as society has became more enlightened. For example, growing up during the 80's in the south, I was fairly racist and homophobic. Now one of my best friends is gay, and I have lots of friends of every color.

I also became an atheist, after years of growing up as a southern baptist, and I no longer believe in the war on drugs.

On the other hand, I'm as fiscally conservative as ever. Small government is good government, etc.

The more educated and traveled I become, the more socially liberal I become.
I've always been fiscally conservative.

I am getting more and more fiscally liberal, as the older I get, I learned it means balancing the budget, with a surplus, and spending only for the good and welfare of the public. I adhere to the Constitution of Our Founding Liberals

I never paid that much attention to whether i was Liberal or Conservative until Obama came on the scene and then as i saw conservatives attitudes go kinda crazy from my point of view it just made me question what line of political logic sounded more credible, seemed like the talking heads on Fox just werent speaking for me and the talking heads on MSNBC made much more sense.
I got the sense that the Liberal mindset was much more in tune with the middle class and poor and the Conservatives were much more into the needs of the rich,as i am a lifelong union factory worker i guess my political view point was a forgone conclusion long before i started thinking about it.
So it seems as i get older i'm noticing a trend of me getting further to the left as the right get further to the right.

As I've gotten older the conservative values I've embraced have just made more sense, and the more I travel the more it has served to affirm my beliefs.

Yes, the older and wiser I get, the more conservative I have become and I voted for Clinton, twice. Now I see all the damage he did, that I was too uneducated to know any better about back then.
