Our system of government can correctly be called a representative democracy or a democratic republic. My point was that, as voters, we don't make decisions on "everything", as the earlier poster had said.

Republic IS a representative democracy:

Republic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"... In the United States, James Madison defined republic in terms of representative democracy as opposed to direct democracy,[5] and this usage is still employed by many viewing themselves as "democrats"..."

What strikes me is that the two gunmen, the people who actually killed someone, have Life without parole. The ring leader, who didn't kill anyone is going to be executed?

I don't know the full details of the story, but to me, that seems excessive when looking at the sentence of the others convicted.

It happened in TX too... The plotter got the DP,the executioner LWOP...

It is the mastermind who matters...She cohersed the 2 assasins...

The jurors are representing the people.

We have democratic justice...( in the 34 states with DP)...

Nothing is cruel with the DP.

The criminal falls unconscious & then dies.

The sweetest,kindest ,painless death...

Satisfaction guarranteed...
