Read a couple stories...once you get past the partisan blather it sounds to me like DeMint is trying to make the Senate more responsible by actually reading the stuff they pass.

Default Will demint shut down the government

Personally, I'd like to see him do it. He'd then be exposed as the fruitcake he is.

Shut it down and then tear it down, department by department. I want to see the fed government unemployment at 14% to 30%. Congress controls the purse strings, "Close them tight".

it want gingrich that shut the government down in 1995, it was clinton who refused to sign the budget that the congress sent him that shut the government down. it was nicely spun by the clinton team though to place the blame on the republicans.

There should be a law that congress must be in session while every bill that htey are going to vote on is read word for word in its entirity. If a member is not there for the entire reading then they are not allowed to vote on it. That would cut down on these mammoth bills that no one reads before voting (like Obamacare).

The media always paints Republicans as the bad guys and most Americans don't follow politics so they just accept what the media feeds to them. If Comedy Central can have fake news shows about the news with a leftist spin then why can't someone cover the actual news stories in a funny and informative way? I think there is enough humer (gallows humor, but still humor) in the way congress works to make a show.

For what, actually reading a bill before voting on it?

Closing down Social Security, Medicare, and the Veterans Administration right before the election will give the Freedomworks Zombies a look at the monster they helped create

Just like Gingrich, his shutdown almost destroyed the GOBP
