English is THE most widely spoken language in America & in the entire world.
Why should I learn a foreign language to accommodate someone from another country in MY country?
If they're going to come here they need to learn to speak the language, it shouldn't be the other way around.
I also shouldn't have to press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish every time I make a phone call.
BTW I was more than qualified as an auto parts sales person to do my job better than someone who hasn't had any higher level of technical training in the field & is a Mexican who probably barely made it through high school.
But your still bitching about a job you didn't get beause you LACKED A SKILL THAT THE EMPLOYER REQUIRED.
I no longer work, I'm retired and for the over 40 years that I did work I NEVER needed to know spanish to get a job and NO ONE should have to today in their own country.
The fact that you are RETIRED means you are not in the workforce and therefore are not aware of the fact that some employers want bi-lingual employees. Forty years ago you coiuld get a job that afforded you a decent salary with a high school education. That era is gone.
Again people like you and Metro Matt can stick your heads in the ground with out-dated thinking while the world passes you by.
The reality is that in the 21st century people with ability to speak more than one language will have an advantage in the job market. The fact you don't feel that shouldn't be the case isn't going to change that.
Show me where our official language is English. I will show you what proves it is not. https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...k/geos/us.html
(Look under languages.) I was shocked the first time I saw this too. We don't have an official language.
If English were our official language it would save the taxpayers much money. Jesse Helms introduced a bill to make English our official language and got nowhere with it. In my opinion we need a bill making English our official language and we need the government to go house to house and clear out the illegals. Yes, we need a military police state until our country becomes secure again.
Our country is about 80% white, but blacks and hispanics seem to be running our country.
NCN, I went to the site, but couldn't find the language part....can you help with the area I'm to click? This is crazy, no wonder our schools are over run and no teching going on. We will all be talking so many languages our "Melting Pot" is going to be soup!!

... you realize the world became flat 16 years ago right? If you didn't want to be on a multilingual planet, you should've boycotted the internet.
In a new twist to the contentious immigration debate, the Senate has voted to designate English the national language of the United States, and to effectively ban federal government ordinances and services in any language other than English.
The 63-34 vote, on an amendment offered by the Oklahoma Republican James Inhofe, split the Senate along largely party lines, with only nine of the 44 Democrats voting for it, and just one Republican voting against.
Muddying the waters further, the Senate then passed by a 58-39 margin a more moderate amendment that declares English merely to be the "common unifying language of the US".
Quote:
Of all developed countries, this is the most monolingual. It speaks both to our lack of competitiveness in the economic and academic spheres as well as our insularity and xenophobia. And it indicates that America really has no desire to educate its children properly and thoroughly.
The reason we need English to be the official is to keep our government working without barriers...........Language In America English as the Official LanguageEnglish is the language of freedom, commerce and opportunity around the world. Declaring English the official language of the United States will provide legal protection against ill-advised government actions which harm or ignore English. On Aug. 1, 1996, the House of Representatives voted 259-169 to declare English the official language of the United States; the Senate never acted on the bill. The effect of declaring English the official language will be in what government cannot do. Official English is intended to stop the costly and unworkable trend toward official multilingualism – the practice of having government operate in many languages. Declaring English the official language means that governments could no longer ignore the effect of their actions on English.
And just how do you think it will make America a better place to have all different languages. For one thing a lot of Americans don't have the time or the need for another language. If you travel or your job requires it, I can see. This doesn't make Americans not want to educate their kids. Matter of fact this is the main problem in schools, American kids are being robbed of time so the teacher can explain to non-English speaking students.

Hamilton County Schools did not provide a specific figure, but Anjelika Riano, ESL coach for the district, said the cost per pupil is the same for an English learner than for a non-English learner, which in 2009 was $9,334. In addition, Title III federal funds are used for instructional support materials, enrichment and remediation programs, professional development, and parent or community engagement. The salaries of the 38 ESL teachers and six interpreters are paid out of the district’s general budget. (Where could this money be better spent in our schools, just maybe, it could go to school supplies so parents where not having to buy them all through the year.)
Since, this is mostly Spanish, maybe, Mexico ought to start paying some of the bill if not all. Maybe, you don't mine paying this, as a tax payer I see it as a waste.
According to Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone Magazine, the Tea Party is full of whites who believe that they are an oppressed minority in the Age Of Obama.
I'm white, and I don't believe I've ever been discriminated against on the basis of my skin color. I know some whites have, but I think it's very rare. Can any whites here describe situations where they're been discriminated against based on their skin color?
I'd have to agree with Taibbi. The Tea Party is full of angry white people who feel they are oppressed but barely even comprehend the full nature of what true oppression really means.
The Tea Party appears to be chock full of rather ignorant, hateful, uneducated citizens who would rather pose for a party whose headline is "Hate Everything that is Not Us" rather than actually serve their own communities with love.
Tea Partiers: Your mission has nothing to do with the original Boston Tea Party. Your mission is transparent AND ugly. Good riddance. Go back to your day jobs- do any of you have day jobs by the way?

They have the right to assemble and form a political party if they want to. I think what libs have done to this country is UGLY but not transparent since BS is very hard to see through. And the only "hate" I've seen came from the left.
How are white people discriminated against in the U.S.?
By the liberal mainstream media who daily promotes an anti-white Christian agenda; by liberal educators who are in the process of 'revising' US history to make out all the pilgrims/English settlers and their ancestors to be nothing but racist homicidal evil-doers; and Hollywood via TV shows, music, and movies, promoting their anti-white bigotry to the masses in the name of "diversity" (note how most of the bad guys are white now, even though in reality the racial composition of most criminals is the opposite. And how many straight-arrow, earnest black judges are there really in the US? According to Hollywood it's 98%).

Excuse me but the Pilgrims and settlers were racist. The fact you don't like the reality of that doesn't mitigate its truth.
