used the term when the group was first gaining momentum? It's pretty clear that people on the left including many here like to use the term because they know it disparages tea party members which is their main goal.

My question is does a few people using a derogatory term justify using that term for all members of a group?

Well, you do know about the double standard of the lefties, don't you? That answers your question.

Yeah, I know... I'm also well aware of the typical excuse that "they called themselves tea baggers first".

I'm asking if it's ok to call a group by a derogatory name just because at one time a few people in that group called themselves that term.

Any time I see a thread topic or post that uses slurs such as "teabaggers" etc they immediately loses credibility. How can they expect to be taken seriously?

I don't think they're trying to stop anyone from voting, they know they can't stop them so they want to do whatever they can to use slurs against them.

Where are all of the libs who insists on using the term teabagger?

There are a couple here who can't start a thread without "teabagger" in the title, where are they to defend this practice?

I guess I'll just assume it's not ok but it'll keep happening.

Certain words applied to gays, blacks and Muslims get posted as a series of ***** but "teabaggers" is allowed, even though most on the right consider it a derogatory slur.

I don't think anyone on the left would try to deny that it's a derogatory term, they just use the excuse that a few members called themselves teabaggers so now it's ok.
