BBC News - Banned Egypt party Muslim Brotherhood to run in poll

If you look at this story, if for some reason Mubarak were to allow free and fair elections and he retires , basically the Muslim Brotherhood would come into power, and would not honor the treaty with Israel, break of relations, and probably resume to war. If they had fair elections in the middle east, this would happen with practically every country..

Israel cannot make peace with islamist nutjobs because the nutjobs don't want peace, they want to destroy israel.

Yes, as we can clearly see they have been very successful in their destruction of Israel so far.

Yes. Remember, in the only election the Palestinian Arabs ever had they elected Hamas. Most of them want Israel destroyed, and have been acting so for over 60 years.
"A survey published on February 5 by the prestigious Jerusalem Media and Communications Center, a Palestinian polling institute, indicates that 46.7 percent of the Palestinians believe that Hamas defeated Israel in the recent fighting in Gaza; 50.8% believe that the rocket attacks should continue, and only 20.8% believe that they are harmful to Palestinian interests. Finally, 55% are convinced that terrorist acts should continue."

A tragedy of misconceptions | Op-Ed Contributors | Jerusalem Post

Polls have consistently showed that a majority of Palestinian Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza support the purposeful killing of unarmed men, women, and children:
FactsOfIsrael.com: Poll: Majority of Palestinians support homicide/suicide bombings and wish for the destruction of the State of Israel

We're dealing with a very different sense of morality than those in the West.

Israel doesn't really want peace. They're just as much at fault for the problems over there as the Palestinians are. They've been fighting each other for what, 3000+ years now? They won't stop because they don't want to stop.

Tell that to the Baltimore Chronicle, they said it, not me.

er, islam isn't even 1500 years old.

Israel constantly made peace offers, the arabs constantly rejected them. Look up the Khartoum resolution.

History, learn it. Jews and Arabs have been at each others throats much longer than that. Israel does not have clean hands here. They're just as bad as their Arab counterparts. I have nothing but contempt for how both sides have treated the other. I wish the US could abandon support for that whole area and just let them fight it out, but unfortunately that would cause other problems.

Israel doesn't teach its children to hate. There's a huge difference.

Yes.
Israel has a standing offer to sit down with any Arab government, anywhere anytime. They all refuse. The Khartoum resolution of the Arab League said "No negotiations with Israel, No recognition of Israel, No peace with Israel".
That still stands.
Israel has offered to negotiate with Lebanon immediately. The Lebanese government flatly rejects it and instead allows its territory to be used as a terror launching pad by Islamic radicals.
The Syrians demand the Golan Heights but refuse to offer peace. Instead they support Hamas and Hezbullah.
The other Arab states are no better.
