Yes, there is a reason to stop the Progressives (a.k.a. Communists) in their tracks.

A Growing "Social Psychosis" Clashes With Serving The Common Good
For some reason this post reminded me of this.

Our people are losing that faith, not only in government itself but in the ability as citizens to serve as the ultimate rulers and shapers of our democracy. As a people we know our past and we are proud of it. Our progress has been part of the living history of America, even the world. We always believed that we were part of a great movement of humanity itself called democracy, involved in the search for freedom, and that belief has always strengthened us in our purpose. But just as we are losing our confidence in the future, we are also beginning to close the door on our past. - from "the speech"

Americans embrace their delusions now more than ever.
Ignorance is trump, denial of everything which does not reflect their views.
The future of any nation is only as bright (or as dim) as the general mentality of the population.

The Soviets used to say people who disagreed with communism had psychological problems, and stuck them in mental hospitals (when they didn't shoot them under Lenin and Stalin). Seems the progressives have the same plans...

Except, of course, when it authorizes tax cuts for you, if you're rich. Or, when you would like some firefighters to come by when your house is burning. Or if you'd like schools to exist to educate your child. Or...well, you get the point."

Yes, we get the point and it is that he twists the facts to meet his agenda. The statement above is quite amusing and exposes his duplicity. I am certain that the Tea Party has never advocated NO government or NO fire department so by suggesting this, he shows quite a childish way of entering the debate.

Tea Party is for cutting government spending, lower taxes and reforming the welfare and entitlement systems. Well every politician who has ever run for public office has proposed cutting government spending and lower taxes. These are populist themes that would get a room full of narcoleptics up and cheering. The devil is in the details. I would be more prone to find common ground with the Tea Party if they would provide some details on "How and Where" they would cut spending and entitlements. So far to the best of my knowledge the details have not been forthcoming by any tea party candidate or policy paper.

Given my distaste for progressives, I suppose that makes me a candidate for the nervous hospital.

Sounded a little like a flower child in reading the conclusion. Off base.

People fail to realize it IS in the public's interest to foster competition and capitalism. So much of what we have today that services the greater good is because of those things (technology/medicine, etc).

What gets me about people who want to gear/orient us towards a more socialist set-up is that they obviously learned nothing about the USSR. They were a superpower for many years, but the average citizen lived in squalor. Absolute squalor. I guess you wouldn't know that if you never visited. I just went in the 90s (various different cities for a summer) and they still hadn't figured toilet paper out yet. I mean, seriously?

I couldn't abide by the average european's lifestyle, either. Hell to the no.
