So how big is the poverty problem in America and what can be done to reduce it?

Education.

1) Get rid of the debt-money system and fractional reserve banking.
2) Stop telling people if they spend $100k on a (worthless) degree they WILL get a $100k job when the truth is theyll get a job flipping burgers, if any job at all.
3) Import controls. Stop dependance on foreign oil.
4) Stop monopoly protection in healthcare.
5) Stop importing poverty via third world immigration.

I agree with taking drugs out of the inner city. But that you aren't isn't going to change the "thug life' culture. In fact since welfare reform during the Clinton administration there are FEWER people on welfare than before. Also the majority of people living in poverty DON'T LIVE IN INNER CITIES.

If you aren't willing to address rural poverty or address poverty without racializing it, then nothing you propose will totally alleviate poverty in America.
