"Two recent news items emanating from the United States have begun to reverberate in Pakistan and give rise to speculation that growing American drone strikes and NATO helicopter attacks in that country may be the harbingers of far broader actions: Nothing less than the expansion of the West’s war in Afghanistan into Pakistan with the ultimate goal of seizing the nation’s nuclear weapons."
This could easily lead to a very serious all out war in the region. India siding with the US.....China siding with Pakistan. Screw Iran this is much more serious as Pakistan actually HAS nuclear weapons and it's obvious they are harboring Osama bin Laden, helping the Taliban and two timing the US military.
Don't pay any attention to the rumors floating around Pakistan. Like everyone else in that part of the world, they eat, live and breathe conspiracy theories. It's just a cultural thing.
We're not going to invade Pakistan (raids across the border are possible, though) and we have no interest it conquering it. We DO have contigency plans for seizing their nuclear stockpile, though, and have had for years.
One thing to ALWAYS remember when dealing with Pakistan is that their every action and every public statment must be filtered through the prism of India. We Americans (and most other westerners) really don't appreciate the depth of hatred and distrust between those two peoples. They have been in a constant state of friction since long before the partition of India and the slaughter which accompanied that partition is still vividly fresh. That colors everything they do and will for generations more.
That applies most particularly to the on-going war in Afghanistan. We will never understand the things Pakistan does in relation to that until we understand that Afghanistan has become a surrogate battlefield between Pakistan and India, while we are just caught in the middle wondering what in the hell is going on and why we can't make it work out like we want it to.

I just don't see an invasion of Pakistan happening. India would love it, but honestly, they would very likely use their nukes before we could take them all out. It only takes one, out of how many to get missed? Probably several hundred. Hitting 100 targets in random areas of the country simultaneously is very unlikely.
That may or may not be true as it's from an Indian source. The Indian's have something akin to a fetish about blaming Pakistan for everything and never miss an opportunity to twist the truth if it puts Pakistan on the defensive.
Of course, that courtesy is returned whenever possible.
On the other hand...I wouldn't doubt it one bit. That part of about wanting to keep the Taliban separated from other groups rings especially true as the biggest fear of the Pakistani Army is that internal groups will rise up and overthrow the government.

These concerns over internal groups overthrowing the government are very real. There is a lot of dissatisfaction with the government in Pakistan and it's not the most stable country around. This is precisely why the global community needs to be vigilant when rogue countries aspire to become nuclear and why nuclear proliferation is bad business. It's only a matter of time before some extremist group gets their hands on some nukes unless we take serious precautions in the global community.
I can't believe anyone would actually believe this...
Consider the intelligence of the people who actually believe this tripe!
