"The Obama administration on Wednesday asked a federal appeals court to immediately suspend a judge’s ruling that overturned the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on gays.
The government says it wants the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit in San Francisco to take action on Wednesday. The federal government is preparing arguments for the appeals court on why the ruling on “don’t ask, don’t tell” should be suspended while the case is appealed.
The Obama administration says it is in favor of repealing the law. However, the government says that letting the ruling of U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips to go forward immediately would be a major problem for the military."

Damn straight we are. I don't get what Obama is doing here. The judge pretty much did the "dirty work" for him here. He just needs to shut up and let it happen.

Some of Obama's recent actions have really made me question him.

Maybe he's trying to make inroads into the Tea Party vote?

That's obviously not going to happen, so he needs to stop doing **** that pisses off his base.

I don't think that "dirty work" is the right terminology to use when discussing homosexuals

lol. Well I don't think it's dirty work, but yeah, you know what I mean. I support the DADT repeal but obviously it's a hot button issue that Obama is better off letting the courts decide for him. So the courts go and decide it for him and he sticks his nose in.... like just let it be, this was a flat out unintelligent move by him.

we all know that Obama is only motivated for political reasons. I think Obama knows that this move is bad for the military, and that he can't let a judge change military law. What kind of commander-in-chief would? It is kind of like a baseball manager going out to argue a call even though it won't do any good. In this case, his players are the secretary of defense, and the military leaders.
If he does nothing, then the GOP can (and will) claim that he puts gay rights ahead of military readiness.

I'm officially off the Obama bandwagon. True, I vote on who I believe is the lesser evil but Obama is starting to irk me on too many important subjects and doing other things in situations that are questionable. He does not have my support anymore.

See I disagree. From a purely political standpoint, it was a bad move. He had a chance to get what he wanted and he would've been able to say, "There was nothing I could do, the courts decided it for me" and technically it would have been true.
