This is good news on the economic front. I'm sure retailers are welcoming this news as it comes just before the holiday shopping season.

Are they including the average of the unemployed in their calculations?

"Employees whose hours had been cut were returning to full-time status in October" -- "revisions to previous months' reports, which showed the labor market wasn't quite as weak as previously thought. The revisions added a total of 110,000 jobs to last month's readings for August and September. That's on top of revisions from the previous two months that added 108,000 jobs above earlier readings."

I know I got one merit raise, then a promotion with another raise with it this year.

The previous two years our raises were considerably smaller, or you didn't get one at all. Some of us did, but we had to keep it "hush hush", makes you wonder how many people actually got them.

But the purse strings have definitely opened up a little this year, over years back.
