All for a flat tax with NO loopholes.

Go to your rich buddies and ask them how they feel about that and I'll bet they flip out over such a proposal.....

Why do you all believe baseless propaganda? Libs have been lied to and manipulated. Why do so many of you fall for it so easily? Serious question.
You are not incuding Social Security.

Oh I do KevK. I want to see cuts, I want to see no earmarks, I want to see Obama take them out of any bills.

I don't think the Republicans will fix anything. At this point though..gridlock to prevent more spending is preferable.

So by your reasoning the "rich" shouldn't spend "at the country club, lavish vacations that masquerade as "business meetings" (have you ever wondered why they have all those "workshops" in Florida, Vegas and California?), eating "business" lunches at the best restaurants in town".

That would mean all those places you mentioned would go out of business. How many more people would be un-employed under your plan?

Let's close down Vegas and Florida. Let all those workers be put out of a job.

Let's put all the people that support the "rich" out of work. No more boating industry. Only the rich can afford to by a boat. No more campers, trailers or RVs.

No more vacation homes. That would be builders, electricians, plumbers, real estate agents, people who make furniture, ovens, ranges etc. would be put out of work.

You get the point.

Jealousy sometimes clouds reasoning.

That would be fine as well....

Anyone who thinks that the tax system as it is currently set up favors the middle class or poor is absolutely doped up....

Sure, we look at "effective tax rate" and howl. What we don't look at is what they ACTUALLY pay at the end of the day after their tax specialists are done...

Them not paying taxes is equivalent to a third of the rest of the population not paying taxes. Do you realize how much lost tax money that is? smh
top 5% pay 50 % of the income taxes How much is enough

rbohm......another blame game thread?
Sheesh.....I am liberal. I am sick to death of being accused of wanting any one's money.

Happy Texan is correct. We need to fix the tax code.
I believe each political party is blaming one another so much that NOTHING is getting done.
This country needs the politicians to stop the bull**** childish games they play & work together to help solve our problems.

Yes, it does include Social Security, hence the title of the chart: TOTAL Effective Federal Tax Rates. The reason the lower income groups appear to pay less than what is normally paid in FICA is because they get more money back from the government than they pay in income tax via various refundable tax credits such as the EIC.

So again...

Total effective federal tax rates by income group:

Top 1%: 31.2%
Top 5%: 29%
Top 10% 27.5%
Highest 20%: 25.8%
