I hope he finds a new job. Somewhere between the right and the left, we find the truth, and we need both sides to find middle ground.
He wasn't fired. He's back on MSNBC. In fact, MSNBC would be stupid to fire him.

Think Progress » UPDATED: The Matthews Speaking Fee Controversy (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:djuWIER2U3kJ:thinkprogress.org/2006/03/15/matthews-speaking-fees/+fire+chris+matthews+paid+speech+hospital+group&cd =18&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us - broken link)

Anyone familiar with MSNBC's business decision (or more precisely GE's Boardroom's decision re: MSNBC) knows this has NOTHING to do with Olbermann's contributions, and everything to do with their decision to revert to 'business as usual'.

As the above story illustrates, GE is very accepting of those who pocket cash for corporate-friendly speeches.
There has been pressure to fire 'Corporate Chris' Matthews for his linkage between industry dollars and opinions since the early 2000's.

And, of course Ashley Banfield's comments as to MSNBC's deliberate lies during the Oil War are also part of the public record.

MSNBC supported Fox, etc (every US 'news' org) in its quest to be able to 'distort' (lie) in news casts for financial reasons in the infamous Akre's case (see below).

http://www.2dca.org/opinions/Opinion...3/2D01-529.pdf

Propaganda is most effective when truth is silenced. Our corporate media- the largest propaganda machiine since the Tass/Pravda/Izvestia op of the former USSR- needed Olbermann- anyone who dares to tell the truth- to be gone. Maddow, Schultz and Rattigan are next.

The fact that Olbermann was silenced just prior to Lauer's softball interview of war-criminal Bush is most instructive.

Olbermann Apologizes To Viewers, Strikes Back At MSNBC [UPDATE]

Slight correction to above- Keith has won this round, so it seems, anyway.

But the message GE has sent is quite clear.

Should be fun watching Keith and the Corporate Child (Mr. Matthews) work together.

Like watching a Neurosurgeon and an actor who plays one on TV both giving opinions on Neurosurgery..............

Good to see Keith is back. I'll start watching the nightly 'Truth Block' again.

He got his butt kicked once again, as he does every night by Fox. Even madcow beat him in one demographic. You would imagine with all the hype of his suspension, his ratings would have soared past Fox, but no such luck.

Look for them once again to return to scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Only the far left fringe watches this guy anyway.

For propaganda to be effective it needs to be constantly repeated, and MUST have a scapegoat for people to blame their problems on- one that 'looks' different to the target audience.

Blacks and Latinos are prime targets.

Faux is bad enough, but is mostly a late-night comic's joke. It is the stationof choice in fast food joints and doctors' offices.
Where it is on, but not usually watched.

The real winners in the corporate dis-info wars are the sources most watched which still have public credibility-

CBS, ABC, and NBC 'News'.

Those are the sources which do the most damage.

Maybe you should explain this to obama, the WH, his minions, the DNC who pretty much attacked Fox way back when and blame them for all their woes.

Pretty good for a station not really watched.

The reality, obviously something Fox haters are not immersed in, is that FOX NEWS is the MOST watched, MOST popular, MOST listened to cable NEWS station.

Deal with it.

Hey, nobody ever said that the TV world audience was not filled with people eager to be entertained by stations like FOX.....or people just needing some "white noise"....

Not at all worried. Just like with other liberal failures, this one needs wide publicity as well.
