Are you one of those who think the military is made up of mostly poor folks?

If you actually look at the statistics, the large majority of military men and women are from middle to upper class families who are well educated. The military today has so much high tech gizmos that only smart people can learn how to use them. The days of the military being filled with dumb kids or kids from poor families who had to drop out of school ended a very long time ago.

Who Serves in the U.S. Military? The Demographics of Enlisted Troops and Officers | The Heritage Foundation

Both enlisted personnel and officers are more educated than the general population. The poor are under represented in the military.

In regard to education and income.. The military does not accept anyone with less than a high school diploma, and GED holders require an additional 15 college credit hours and a wavier before you would be accepted. Since lacking a HS diploma is more common among lower income groups the under representation makes sense. Although the Northeast is the most populous region and has high graduation rates, only 12% of military personnel are from the region vs. 42% from the South.

During height of Iraq War, high school dropouts were accepted:

They were accepted, not the majority like you're trying to imply.

I think you have been watching too many Transformer movies lol

Most of the US army is made up of the young adults/kids (18-25), much higher representations from Small town America and African American than the national average. These kids are from the poor to middle class usually less educated than the national average. Easy to recruit and very patriotic.

Yes there are a growing amount of Technical specialists, but the guys dyeing on the streets of Baghdad are largely young kids from small town USA, not the 35 year old tech experts controlling and maintaining the drones 200 miles away.

Obviously you think you know better than those that do reports on the issue..

Please tell me what your qualifications are so we can determine if you are right, or those hired by the military to track such data...

I don't know if you are from a military family or know any military families.

I do and they are certainly not poor or undereducated. The guys fighting on the streets of Baghdad have to be smart too. If you're not smart, then you're dead.
