I don't know if someone is rewriting history but one show claimed the Indians had the Pilgrims kill another Indian tribe (their enemies) with them and that is the reason they befriended the Pilgrims. They admired their muskets and saw a good chance of wiping out their enemies.

Sort of makes sense. Nothing under the sun was perfectly peaceful, not even the Indians when the Pilgrims came here.

The first thanksgiving was the bounty of the first socialist experiment.

Collective farming. They starved for years until they granted private property to grow your own and no more collective farming. The collective idea had them struggling to make it.

Yeah, right.

From my link:

Was it a family event? Were there ladies there?

Probably not. The only eyewitness account mentions "some 90 men." This was a political gathering. The Wampanoags and the Pilgrims were cementing a military alliance. Massoasoit, the Wampanoag king, was there. So was the English governor, William Bradford. The first Thanksgiving was mostly a guys-only event where the English women, says Beahrs "were likely doing the bulk of the cooking."

You should read 'History of Plymouth Plantation,' by the governor of the colony, William Bradford.

It is very clear on the origins of the first Thanksgiving. When the Pilgrims first arrived they had community property and farms. Everything that was grown was shared by everyone. Socialism, if you will.

The hard working and industrious soon realized they were doing all the work and growing all the crops. The shiftless realized they didn't have to do anything. The government was going to force the producers to share with the useless.

Result: The industrious stopped working and there was famine.

The government realized the economic system they created (socialism) didn't work. They changed direction and recognized private property rights (capitalism).

Result: Everyone grew their own food. There was so much produced they invited the Indians to share in their new found bounty.

Lesson: Socialism does not work. Government controlled economies lead to death and destruction. Private property and capitalism results in plenty for everyone. Even the women folk and the ethnics.

Read the book. It was written by the person that was there at the time. Not by some leftie college prof. that was all concerned about the seating arragement of said event.

Thanksgiving is the celebration of capitalism and life.

I am not allowed to rep you for this post, but it does seem to me that the one man who we know of who was there might be a bit more likely to be right than anyone today.

Actually the people who financed the thing and got the charter told the colonists that that socialist system was what they were to use. When is failed they saw the light, just as so many of us have done today. I think that the words of the man put in control in Jamestown concerning socialism were too true to worry about. When they realized what was going on they told the slackers that those who worked to grow food could eat and those who didn't would have to go hungry.

All the crap up to your post is so obviously prog crap that I have to jump in with you.
