Interesting story here. Seems like those who complain about the scanners are just a VERY vocal minority according to this poll.

Isn't it just a minority of travelers who have to go through the scanner in the first place? Maybe most people don't complain because it doesn't/hasn't/won't effect them.

I personally never fly so I really do not care about the scanners. However, I will be laughing at the frequent fliers who support them when they get brain tumors. Serves them right for supporting such tyranny.

4 out of 5 people are raging morons who have no science or medical training so their 'opinion' is of no interest to me.

Personally, I prefer a pat-down. I like to think of it as a very cheap massage.

I personally don't trust polls put out by mainstream media. If the government wants people to support something, they know they can manipulate public opinion by making them believe that the vast majority are for or against something. Simple psychology.

I think I listened to this on NPR the other day. I wanna say that they were talking about how the vast majority of the complaints were on the internet and that nothing would come of it because the people on the internet had no bond. Or something to that effect. I got the distinct feeling at that time that this interview was paid for programming just because of its dismissive quality. I can't for the life of me remember who the interview was with.

And I think that this has the capacity to run the emotional gamut, contrived mind you, and be dropped within the next couple of weeks. I saw this because it has been taken to its extremes. Rather than direct anymosity to those charged with creating the policies, anger has been taken out on those who carry them out. They, too, have rent and children and bills. It is a disgusting job that comes with a check.

Secondly, it isn't a sexual assault. It has nothing to do with sex. Nobody is being molested. The pat down is a pat down that you will have if you have been arrested. They aren't running there hand up your leg because they really like you. And the only thing missing is a squat and cough. The scanners aren't porn. They aren't keeping the pics for a later date. People are being treated as criminals. That is what the objection should be about. And they give you the option. Ain't it funny though that the lesser of the two evils is the scanner.

It is like hitting all of the high notes and missing the mark.

This is a form of travel that people pay for. Sometimes, it is not possible to travel by any other means. The thing is not to fly when it is convenient but not to fly when it is inconvenient. I wonder if the public has the ability to follow through and actually direct their anger towards the policy makers.
