Seems that a majority of our servicemen that are performing combat duties are opposed to allowing gays to serve openly. Not that it will matter as the the soldier on the frontline's opinion will have no bearing on what the Politicans want to do. Common sense would tell you that these ARE the exact people that they should be listening too in regards to repealing this policy.

They'll get used to it, just as their fathers and grandfathers got used to serving alongside black soldiers. It will soon be no big deal.

It already has. Do you think there wasn't a time in this nation's history when we had homosexuals serving in the military?

Nope. We should just go by the majority of what the military says.

Frontliners "in general" score lower on aptitude tests. Many times 11B is where you go when you can barely get in. They likely would rate as having the most bigoted, prejudice opinions in general.

I suppose had this been the 1940's you be saying the same thing about keeping blacks and whites separate. You'd want to put that up for a vote among the "frontline".

Social engineering and pandering for the Moderator cut: inappropriate vote means more to the politicians making these decisions than does the opinions and effectivness of our combat troops.

The key word here is OPENLY serving.

Which is a silly distinction.

It's not as if soldiers don't know there are gays in the military already.

What is the point of making people pretend they are something that they are not?

Get over it. Homos can drive trucks and kill people just as effectively as heteros. The only problem - if you can really call it that - is the bigots.

But for them, there would be no problem. Therefore they are the problem.
