I might add that playing drop the soap once this is over might not be a good idea for straight soldiers.

Clinton wanted to let gays serve openly, DADT was a compromise. The time for DADT to be repealed is long overdo.

Yes, it was the compromise and what people were willing to accept at that time (sadly.)

Another thing most righties don't realize is that it's a Republican group who has really been pushing this issue the last half a year or so.

They dont need to.. DADT can be repealed in the same manner it was passed. Executive order signed by the president...

Why isnt Obama doing this?

In May 2009, a committee of military law experts at the University of California at Santa Barbara[80] concluded that the President can issue an Executive Order to suspend homosexual conduct discharges.[81] Obama's current position is that he wants Congress to change the law, and not have the change come from legal action.[82]

Thats what they teach you but thats not the fact. Clinton signed an excecutive order to pass the bill. There was no congressional vote needed, no compromise was needed. He could have stated whatever he wanted in the executive order. While he chose the middle ground, it wasnt a compromise because there was no one to compromise with..

Seems I might be wrong.. Clinton threatened to sign it by executive order, but it was passed by Congress first..
