Yes, teach it right along side evolution and let the kids decide. But why stop there? Let's teach alchemy along with chemistry, and how about blood letting to balance the four humors as an alternative to germ theory... just let the med students decide.
While i think that there are ways of teaching intelligent design along with evolution that step on neither Darwins nor the Constitutions toes, I say leave creationism to Parochial/private schools and Sunday schools.
Hell no! Creationism is not knowledge, it's religious dogma. The sheer stupidity of creationism aside, from a purely legal perspective there is supposed to be a separation of church and state in this country, and public school is obviously a state institution. Keep creationism in Sunday School where it belongs.
When talking about the evolutionary record of humans the smart instructor will at least do a disclaimer about Creationism. Why? You're going to have kids challenge you and bring their parents in if you don't.
Now before anyone starts throwing slurs out keep in mind I teach in a majority Black school in a majority Black system so it's not the typical boogey man of "White Evangelicals" that some of you will cite.
Most of my students are Baptist with a large number of Pentacostalists thrown in.

Butler Act--it was law at one time. And the person who broke the law was brought to trial and found guilty.
