Over the past 70 years the "peaceful" expansion of government in the U.S. has increased at a rate unsurpassed in all of history. No other country has ever seen such growth without a major conflict or total takeover.

We are on the brink of something big no doubt about it, but is it really socialism? What are our options? What can we do to slow it down? Should we? What do you see in our future?

These are example of questions I would like to here about from you. Please feel free to add your own.

Consider the DREAM act and the legalization of 12 Million illegals voting for more entitlements. Stop the DREAM ACt, Harry Reid is going to push it through for vote during the mid-holiday session.

This $1.1 Trillion spending omnibus-palooza bill of Harry Reids' liberal Senate puts in place the funding for Obamacare, HHS budget required to implement it, and other federal agency budgets to clamp down further on Americans and their liberty.

We are there. The infrastructure is in place and if the $1-1 Trillion spending bill is passed, it is funded.

Solutions, de-fund it. Tear down the agency infra structure and rebuild it to conform within the limits of Constitutional power.

Chris Christie in 2012 for POTUS and we can get it done, not only stopping Socialism in its tracks but driving it backwards another decade or more.

The powers that be would have you believe that "Socialism" is the culprit that is destroying this nation now wouldn't they?

The real enemy here is an "Oligarchy". A government in which a small group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes.

Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America - are larger today than they were before taxpayers bailed them out as the economy collapsed in 2008Combined with Citigroup, the four largest U.S. banks now write half of the mortgages, issue two-thirds of the credit cards, and hold $7.4 trillion in assets, more than half the nation's economic output.

While the middle class disappears and poverty increases the wealthiest people in our country are not only doing extremely well, they are using their wealth and political power to protect and expand their very privileged status at the expense of everyone else. This upper-crust of extremely wealthy families are hell-bent on destroying the democratic vision of a strong middle-class which has made the United States the envy of the world. In its place they are determined to create an oligarchy in which a small number of families control the economic and political life of our country.

Funny how that article from "The Nation" disappeared from the board, isn't it?

Maybe it is time to revive the article...

Socialism usually ends when they run out of other people's money.
Since the proponents of Socialism never set limits to it it never ends well.

Great post well said. It can also be described as corporatism, otherwise fascism, which is a real possibility.

Our government is indeed growing rapidly in power, control and cost. Government spending as a percent of GDP has grown from about 7% to almost 45% over the last 100 or so years. That is absolutely astounding.

There is a lot of evidence that the power growth of our Federal Government was started by Lincoln. He essentially squashed states rights and lead us to a much more powerful central government. Power has been accumulating in Washington ever since.

Those of us who value freedom will fight this out of control behemoth.
