What is so wrong and highly immoral about socialism? Europe has it. Indeed, the United States is also socialist since it has Social Security and Medicare. I bet old people sure don't want the politicians going around saying, "Social Security and Medicare are destroying America, so we seek to abolish those two government programs."

The most stable, educated, wealthy and civilized nations on earth are all socialist.

That will never happen in the USA because:

A: We are none of the above.
B: We are a fascist state.

there is a difference between being socialist insomuch that you're communist.. and having social programs in place to eliminate poverty in america.
Fact of the matter is. People can work fulltime at the gas station down the street and make 7 dollars per hour.. 40 hours of work per week there grants them a poverty wage. Is that right? someone has to do that job... We already DO have socialistic policies in place... if we didn't.. we'd be just like in the early years of the industrial age.. where rich fat cats owned all the companies.. and poor working class slaved in their shops for 3 dollars per day with 14-16 hour work days...
Its just not realistic.. you can't have your cake and eat it too.. tout all the capitalistic lines you want.. but reality is.. most of america works for someone else.. and if those socialistic policies weren't in place your salaries would shrink substantially and you would never be able to spend time with your families... and if you didn't like it.. you were replacable by someone willing to do it...

If you think that socialist sates are perfect then I invite you to go saty in one for wahiole. Then you will learn what the stae means. Europe has socialized medicne but it does treat evryone. Just as it has socailized housing and many in the midlleclass can never own a home and many live in council housing like the UK which we call the projects. Russia and east germany were examples of a true socailist state. The european countries in fact rely on free markets to finance their socailized programs and in fact turn more of the socialized industry back to market system during the 80's because they were failing.Even China who once had millons of starving peole turn to the market system as their comminist economy waas failing.Look at the differentce in peoles lifes in north verus south korea. No one I know wants that kind of state system.Even noiw I would look at the unemployment rate of those under 30 in UK and France before committing to a socailist state.

America doesn't need to become more socialist like western Europe because of this credit crisis. We just need better oversites that get enforced and don't repeat Greenspan's mistakes with handling interest rates that many economist say led to this reckless lending. It's eastern Europe we need to take notice of. Several former Soviet countries have adopted flat taxes.

Look at Socialist in Europe now:

Besides if people want to become communist or socialist they would vote for their candidates which they do have. But they have zero support in this country unlike europe where they have alot of support. Usual tho they lose backing once the corruption and economy starts downhill.

Ya know Tex, it's hard for you to understand what the rest of the world is like since you are a Texan.

Texas - and midwestern America - are unlike most places in the world. Land prices are still cheap - a leftover from homesteading.

In Europe, the East Coast, and the West Coast, there at 10 - 25 people standing everywhere you would see 1 person standing in Dallas.

People in Texas lecture about "competition", but until you come to the part of the world where all the people are, you don't even understand the meaning of the word. Dallas is a sleepy little town where life is slow and easy compared to anywhere in the Northeast or Europe. You have no idea how much competition they deal with there every day. Just the driving - man I drive circles around these punks here in Dallas. I can out work them, whatever. It's easy to lecture about competition when you are in the little leagues.

So in the crowded parts of the world, socialism is instituted to moderate the rat race that does not exist in TX, or any of the "more capitalist" sections of the USA. It's important to slow things down in the urban centers.

The richest nations in the world are in Scandinavia and northern Europe. They all employ socialist policies so everyone has a fair share, not 111 million for Paulson and nothing for 100 million other people. It works, we know it does.

When the population density of Texas equals that of the Northeast, houses here will also average $400K.
