Russia to Control Half of U.S. Uranium
Talk show host Glenn Beck has a question: Why is the federal government allowing a state-owned Russian company to gain control of half the uranium mined in the United States?
The uranium company ARMZ, which is wholly owned by the Russian State Corporation for Nuclear Energy, has paid $610 million for control of Uranium One Inc., a Canadian company that owns two uranium mines in Wyoming.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Committee of Foreign Investment in the United States have both approved the deal, which according to the Financial Times could give ARMZ control of more than half of American uranium production
.

What the f is wrong with people like you? We have PLENTY of uranium sources. If Russia wants to invest $610 MILLION dollars and buy up some of our mines, WHY THE HELL CAN'T THEY. YOU PEOPLE ARE RIDICULOUS.

It's high time Wyoming "nationalizes" its State.

Sounds like a State Security issue to me.

The problem with people like him is that they listen to and worship Glenn Beck and think he tells the truth.

People listen. The best way for two countries to avoid conflict is to do lots of business with one another. I know history has shown that conflict can still occur but it still is the best way for peaceful and stable relationship. Russia is willing to invest millions of dollars to develop American mines. Why do you want to block foreign investment at a time when this country desperately needs it.

Uh....why was it OK for Canada to own half our uranium mines, but it's not OK for Russia to have them? After all, foreign ownership of a critical resource is still foreign ownership, no matter which country it is...right?

Beck is in bed with the Neo-Con Republican's and one thing I noticed back when they had total control of the government is that they consistently did things to provoke Russia for no apparent reason. Here they are again.

Why?

What is the concern? they will make nukes?... News flash... they already do... I guess I'm curious as to why they need the product.

Are they cornering the market to drive prices up? I'm sure there are some middle east countries that can and would pay a fortune for it....

FWIW - The Russians have been selling us the obsolete and over age Plutonium cores of their nuclear weapons for a couple of decades. We manufacture them into power reactor fuel rods to generate electric power while destroying the Plutonium.

As far as foreign ownership of natural resources is concerned I am more concerned with the Chinese than the Russians.
