WASHINGTON — When a proposal to encourage end-of-life planning touched off a political storm over “death panels,” Democrats dropped it from legislation to overhaul the health care system. But the Obama administration will achieve the same goal by regulation, starting Jan. 1.http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/26/us...eath.html?_r=1
With the infamous Section 1233 still alive and kicking, Patients will lose the ability to control treatments at the end of life. This is just one of many reasons this bill must be reversed.
Here is just one more example of how this administration is showing us they are "The most open and transparent administration ever"

After learning of the administration’s decision, Mr. Blumenauer’s office celebrated “a quiet victory,” but urged supporters not to crow about it.
Moreover, the e-mail said: “We would ask that you not broadcast this accomplishment out to any of your lists, even if they are ‘supporters’ — e-mails can too easily be forwarded.” The e-mail continued: “Thus far, it seems that no press or blogs have discovered it, but we will be keeping a close watch and may be calling on you if we need a rapid, targeted response. The longer this goes unnoticed, the better our chances of keeping it.

More of the same nonsense? Please, give us a break. It's a new year, and there are legitimate issues to talk about, try to find some.
As many as it takes to alert people that they have to call/fax their congress critters until they agree to pass legislation rolling back the provisions in Section 1233. How many people knew the Obama administration slipped this in and it will achieve the same goal by regulation, starting yesterday (Jan. 1, 2011)? Answer, not many because, it has not gotten the wide spreed coverage a story this significant deserves.

And, just what's wrong a patient VOLUNTARILY sitting down with his Doctor and discussing what to do at the end of his life? Why is that a bad thing? More importantly, what's wrong with Medicare paying the Doctor for his time?
I don't know how much experience you've had with the terminally ill, but I guarantee you that discussion takes place at SOME point.

I have had far too much such "experience"....it is not the discussions, they are important, it is the limiting of options, that were NOT previously limited that are the problem. Why do you want the Government to limit a persons valid options?
With the infamous Section 1233 still alive and kicking, Patients will lose the ability to control treatments at the end of life. This is just one of many reasons this bill must be reversed. Actually it does the opposite, it gives the patient more control of their treatment, it just that some do not like the idea of others choosing having control over their own life and death. Stop reading right wing propaganda and read the actual wording of the section and you will understand.

They don't know why they are against it. They only know that they are told they are against it.
