"Part of the reason House Republicans may not be able to put their futile efforts to repeal Obamacare behind them is that party freshmen won’t let them.

At a Wednesday panel organized by the Heritage Foundation, conservative Republicans lamented that it’s been too long since they had the opportunity to vote to wipe out the Affordable Care Act in its entirety — and that the newest members haven’t had the chance yet.

Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) urged leadership to hold a repeal vote so freshman members can serve up the same anti-Obamacare talking points for their conservative constituents that more senior Republicans enjoy.

“If you’re a freshman — the guys who’ve been up here the last year, we can go home and say listen, we voted 36 different times to repeal or replace Obamacare. Tell me what the new guys are supposed to say,” he said. “We haven’t had a repeal or replace vote this year.”

House GOP Freshmen: Let Us Vote To Repeal Obamacare, Too! | TPMDC

They acknowledge it would be a waste of time, that it would go the way of the last 36 times the GOP held a vote to defund the ACA. But the little GOP freshmen feel left out of all the fun. Can't have that.

I guess Congress has nothing of import to focus on these days.

It's a futile effort, but getting rid of Obamacare is important.

Expanding Obamacare to include the public option is more important.

It's not about getting rid of the ACA, it's about giving freshmen GOP representatives talking points.

Here's a good talking point: GOP House, after wasting countless hours on pointless votes in the last Congressional session, decide it's in the country's best interest to waste yet more countless hours on more pointless votes in the current session. Because, you know, there is nothing else of import going on...

Boehner ought to make time on the floor to re-visit the declarations of war on Japan and Germany so these GOP new boys can brag to the voters back home, "I voted against Obamacare, and Hitler and Tojo!"

There pretty much isn't. Might as well just rent out both chambers for receptions, conferences and weddings now.

yes, everyone knows that Democrats cant get up and function without Congress telling them how to get dressed in the morning.

Just not so many people are so vocal about it...

Nothing like wasting time and money in Congress voting against something that won't be getting repealed....maybe the freshman can actually worry about doing his job and focus on job creation and balancing our budget instead of wanting to waste time with pointless votes.

A waste? Most of what congress does is a waste. I say keep voting and voting on it. Why? because when it hits the fan (and it will once fully implemented), there will be no place for people to hide concerning their votes on it.

Voting to keep it numerous times won't allow them to "evade" the issue when all the idiots who supported it start backtracking once everything goes to hell.

Meanwhile, taking place in the senate, is a proposal to repeal term limits on the President..
