it seems a great majority of crimes are committed by teenagers that wear hoodies that help conceal their face, also many banks are now requiring you to remove your hat and sunglasses before entering

well here in SoCal lots of bank robbers are starting to use hyper-realistic costume masks, originally designed as film & television props. Hoodies are soo 2000 and late!

whuh? how about we ban knapsacks, because that's what they carry the money away in?

or cars? cause they drive away in them?

the answer is no.

Man, I LIVE in hoodies in the wintertime!

No, I reeeeeally don't think banning them will solve anything.

Hell to the no! That's a reactionary sentiment that wouldn't actually accomplish anything. Like nighthouse66 said, by that logic we should also ban backpacks or hats or sunglasses altogether. Not to be confrontational, but I think that's misguided at best and downright stupid at best.

No. Banning hoodies would be a Statist move. Chip away at the smaller things first, stoke paranoia...that's how it always happens.

That's ridiculous. I'm a 50 year old white female executive who wears a hoodie quite often in the winter--even to work. (Casual dress code unless we've got customers coming in.)

Let's get to the root of the problem--what causes criminal behavior and how to prevent it--before we put kneejerk non-solutions in place.

I guess adults don't wear hoodies?

Why not ban shoes - they help you get away. Better yet - ban legs! Maybe amputations should become the norm since people typically use their legs for at least part of the transport into the bank or store to do the deed, then use those same legs to get away. But wait - if we do that, then we'll also have to ban wheelchairs, walkers, and canes!!!

If that happens I'm going to start a new ski mask company.
