Hi y'all, I've been doing some political soul searching, and just plain old soul searching for that matter, but anyway I'm curious to see what the federal government would do and look like if you as a conservative were able to have complete control of reshaping the federal government?

Couldn't be any worse than the wreckage left by the current admin and congress.
I find it amazing that with all the examples we have from around the world of governments collapsing from the weight of the nanny state, free HC, free education, etc, etc, etc, yet that is exactly the direction the Left would like to take this country. More government spending, more and bigger entitlements.
Any lefties want to address that?
What with the UK, PIIGS and a bunch of other underwater countries due to their massive government entitlements, why do you want the US to follow that disastrous ideology and policy?
Hi y'all, I've been doing some political soul searching, and just plain old soul searching for that matter, but anyway I'm curious to see what the federal government would do and look like if you as a conservative were able to have complete control of reshaping the federal government?
I hope to not inject my own biases too much, but seeing as how this is a political topic, I won't claim to be unbiased in my approach.
For me, representing a conservative government (conservative referring to our limited government idea, not meaning monarchy) would mean that the federal government would have to be much more confined into its constitutional boundaries. For a long FAQ, I would look at this link:
Some areas are clear. For instance, government would not be involved in the subsidizing of any business or corporation. That means no more bailouts. Regulation in most aspects of the economy would be kept to a minimum. Other forms of welfare would either be removed from the federal level or at the least, encourage private investment (such as Chile's private pension system).
Some areas are less clear though. In Article 1, section 8, the Constitution states that:

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;
So for some areas such as NASA, would they be considered unconstitutional? From my point of view, I really don't have much of an issue with federal science funding as compared to most of the other things government does. However, there's always the problem that some of the solutions (especially on environmental issues) will end up requiring government intrusion.
For social issues, this can be mixed. Some social conservatives are ok with the federal government dealing with these issues. Others (like me) believe that social issues and other forms of public activities such as public libraries and even welfare spending are better left to the states. So if the People's Republic of Kalifornia wanted to implement the planks of the Communist Manifesto, they could do so as long as they don't violate the Constitution. They just wouldn't get a federal bailout of any kind.
I hope this helps a little bit. I certainly did some soul searching and looked at the pros and cons of all sides myself before I decided in general what set of ideas made sense to me. The key tactic that helped me was looking at current events and then asking myself, "What would the liberal/socialist/conservative/libertarian do?"

2003-2007 : Republican control of Presidency, Congress, and Supreme Court.
Kinda like the high of the 1920s, which led to the other Great Depression Democrats had to clean up after.

Scale back Federal government by 95%, leaving only those parts necessary for carrying out the explicit powers in Article 1, Section 8, USCON.
To encourage frugality, eliminate all meddling by government in the private sector - especially subsidies to transportation and petroleum.
To further reduce fuel consumption, encourage parallel development of high population density mixed use development and electric traction rail mass transit.
Rebuilding America to minimize consumption of fuel should take decades.
