Something similiar happened in Atlanta when I lived there.

The Boomer Century: 1946-2046

MAYOR SHIRLEY FRANKLIN

Instead of blaming her predecessor or glossing over the depth of the crisis, Franklin responded by leveling with Atlantans about the extent of the city’s problems, and asked everyone to bear the burden of solving them. She raised property taxes nearly 50%, slashed city services and eliminated 1,000 jobs from the city payroll, cut her own staff and salary, and imposed the strictest code of ethics for public employees anywhere in the state.

Wow, sounds like the first guy did a kind of crummy job, doncha think?

Pity, Detroit was once a proud city. We can blame and point fingers, no matter, Detroit is now just another third world city.

This post is a shining example of what happens when you have no idea what the word "rust-belt" means.

Your point? Are they supposed to overshadow all the broke/unsuccessful/uneducated Republican cities or do you actually have a point?

I can't believe Detroit is in such shambles. I hate to say it, but they should tear down their dilapidated buildings and turn them into green spaces. Very depressing photos...
