Some drug dealers were wearing tshirts today that had todays date and then the words
"it's our turn now"
I feel for the citizens of that city.
Drugs are illegal by federal law.
It has been documented that our federal government(Eric Holder)says, "that local and state law enforcement cannot enforce federal law, along with States no being able to have any laws that mirror federal laws".
This is the busted bubble working it's way through the system.
The system has to be purged of the excess debt.
The stimulus just kicked the can down the road and made it worse with money, temporary money, used for "job creation". And now they will be hurting worse for it as those new jobs have to go as well as those old jobs.
This look like it just Camden in this article. Are there others articles with other municipalities in it.
To be honest. I'm currently living (for the most part) in N. NJ right now. And I'm just watching the severely underfunded pension fund and wondering, Will the state have to renege on at least some the promises given to current retirees of the state to save money. I know it all well and go to keep your promises. But if I had a choice to be here (Fed Gov. basically owns my SO) and/or to raise a family here....I'd be gone in a second. And that's the problem. If young folks/family don't feel there's much of an opportunity here they will probably will jet out. And of course that in the end hurts the future growth and tax base of NJ. The only saving grace in my area is that it's hop, skip, and a jump away from Manhattan where there are jobs at all levels. But that not the state as a whole.

I can tell from your post that you're not one of the people who spent your life working in the system.
My question though is...How is the state going to fund the pension fund and other costs the state have while making it desirable for younger folks to stay in the state? Basically how do we placate past while building the future?
It simply amazes me how many times they pull this scam and people fall for it.
I don't care which city or state it is, EVERYTIME there's some sort of budget issue, the FIRST think they threaten to do is lay off cops, firefighters and teachers. It's NEVER City Hall office staff, administrators. It's NEVER cutting things which the people don't use. It's always the things people count on.
Why do they do that? To frighten people into paying more taxes! Rather than cut the stuff the city could do without, they cut the most important. And it works! Every time!
Just wait and watch. It won't be long before a bond issue comes up and, after a few weeks without enough cops and firefighter's, the people will approve it.
Exactly..they hope the public screams loud enough to Trenton and they (the towns) will get more taxpayer $$$$ to squander
