Um, seriously for a moment now...why in the h*ll would Ronnie sign this instead of busting out his veto pen? I know you explained why, but I'm just not convinced.

Because it was unlikely they could get another FOPA to his desk at the time, because of largely democrat opposition. FOPA did correct some serious issues (people jailed for traveling with guns through hostile states...). Hughes tried to derail it with his poison pill.

While I agree that semi-auto is much better to control fire and conserve ammo, I certainly miss my machine gun. We have lived in a state for the last ten years that completely bans full auto, regardless of class 3 weapons license. It is simply not possible in this state.

I target shoot ALOT and hunt 2-3 times a year. We have an example of about every weapon available, which makes it fun to compare and observe different platforms. While machine guns are very impractical, they are fun as hell to shoot and I would certainly like to have that option again to own one.
