"Drugged, raped, and pregnant? Too bad. Republicans are pushing to limit rape and incest cases eligible for government abortion funding."

"The 'No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act'...contains a provision that would rewrite the rules to limit drastically the definition of rape and incest in these cases. With this legislation...Republicans propose that the rape exemption be limited to "forcible rape." This would rule out federal assistance for abortions in many rape cases, including instances of statutory rape."

The House GOP's Plan to Redefine Rape | Mother Jones

I don't understand how any women could possibly vote Republican.

The real question is how anyone could vote republican in this day and age. They are absolutely out of control.

What?

What?

So, being drugged into unconsciousness and assaulted would no longer be considered rape?

I have no words.

And their supporters believe that Tracey Morgan was 'exploiting' women simply talking about masturbation.

Better beware the enemy within.

If they're going to vote to change the definition, I believe that they should experience it themselves first.

Another way to minimize, dehumanize and control women.

I am completely opposed to this legislation, but to be fair this bill was sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL), so is referred to as bi-partisan. BUT, it has very little support from the Democrats, I think 20 at the moment.

Here is the actual bill:

Govt funds should not be used to pay for the result of anyone's behavior.

Well, that is not what the article said at all. Obvously, even reading the article, one can see that being drugged and assaulted would constitute rape.

The main thrust appears to be (mind, I have not seen the bill, which has both Republicans and some Democrats sponsoring it) that the victim of statutory rape would no longer be automatically able to use tax-payer money for getting an abortion, unless the victim was forced into the act (i.e., if a underage girl age 16 willingly has sex with a boy age 18, making it statutory rape in many jurisdictions, and she then became pregnant and decided she wanted an abortion, she would have to pay for it herself, or her own insurance).

I would be interested in reading the bill for exact details. Remember, the linked article is simply an article by another person who, I guess, read the bill (hence, subject to their misinterpretation).

On the other side of the extreme, you have rabid feminists that think all male sex is rape. Both premises are just as ridiculous than the other. Redefining rape to exclude drugging and assault sounds similar to blaming the woman for causing the man to rape her in Muslim cultures.
