I think it is silly to try to take a single Amendment from the US Constitution and apply it to a Middle Eastern country and play the "what if" game. Our Constitution takes into account all natural rights/liberties and affirms them. Those rights are not granted by our government. So, it is a false premise to try to apply one natural right, and only one, to a country with a vastly different political system and culture.

Egyptians are allowed to own handguns. MSNBC interviewed an Egyptian last night who owns a gun for personal protection.

Small Arms in Egypt: Facts, Figures and Firearm Law
-In Egypt, private possession of handguns (pistols and revolvers) is permitted
-In Egypt, only licensed gun owners may lawfully possess firearms and ammunition
-Applicants for a gun owner’s licence in Egypt are required to prove genuine reason to possess a firearm, for example, hunting, target shooting, personal protection, security
-An applicant for a firearm licence in Egypt must pass background checks which consider criminal, mental and domestic violence records
-Where a past history, or apprehended likelihood of family violence exists, the law in Egypt stipulates that a gun licence should be denied or revoked
- In Egypt, carrying a firearm in plain view in a public place is allowed without a permit (with some restrictions)

We may have a real-life test of this if serious unrest hits Yemen. That nation has the freest firearms laws on the planet.

Why would we ask her? She has a hole in her head and can't talk right now.

the people are rebelling against an oppressive government, thus the violence would have happened anyway, and they would have found a way to get their hands on firearms as needed.

you do realize that one can kill another and not use a firearm right? your response is in poor taste by the way.

In fact, it is surprising how little violence there has been so far.
