I don't get why having an affair should end a politician's career. I guess that might happen if the politician is doing something illegal, but if it's just a normal then it should be fine.
A person's private life shouldn't have anything to do with how he or she handles the big issues.
So what do you consider a normal affair? Our leaders represent us, so how could we choose someone who can't properly conduct himself? Our leaders should be nearly perfect. Why would you settle for "pretty good?"
Maybe because we actually have morals, standards, class, and respect for God and family life? Kinda makes you wonder how we ended up being the world superpower and you Europeans/Canadians/whoever are biting the dust. The U.S. is the light of the world for every country and nation on Earth. Despite getting more and more Godless as time goes on, some of us are still a moral people that will fight to uphold our puritan standards and we will not tolerate sexual scandals in our government. If someone cannot handle their loins, what on Earth makes you think they can handle a people?

It's because people don't understand the real issues and feel that trivial things such as an affair (which is none of the public's business) have a huge bearing on job performance. The fact of the matter is that Bill Clinton had an affair, but was a fairly good president. George W. Bush did not have an affair and had a helping hand in policies that led to the second largest economic collapse in our nation's history.

If sex was SO bad, it wouldn't feel good. If sex was made JUST for reproduction, it wouldn't feel good AND we wouldn't have urges.

The bottom line is that gays were made so that the world wouldn't overpopulate. Historically they've only made up 4% of the population: this has helped to equalize the population and it has helped to prevent overpopulation problems.

Anyway, back to REALITY--I totally agree. If people would ACTUALLY expand their mind a bit.. there's a reason for almost everything. It has nothing to do with the mysterious man on the throne in the clouds. Or a book written by.. everyday people 2000+ years ago...
Take your pick it is a number of reasons, morals, religious standards, character, we want the people in our political arena to be of a high standard with good morals. Don't want someone in politics to be prancing around, sex and politics don't mix.
