Well, in this case, the boss, the Wisconsin Taxpayer would be right not to trust their employees. The teachers are using their sick time to strike. They are liars- they aren't sick. I hate to even call these people teachers. This is what they're teaching? That it's ok to lie and be selfish?

Not organized or condoned by the unions..or so they say.
Grassroots movement..or so they say.

Just takes a series of phone calls..nothing in writing.
Wonder just WHO started those phone calls ?
Not grass roots at all. This was instigated and is backed by the Organizing for America group which is tied to the Dems and Obummer. They are apparently busing protestors in.

I hope the Governor holds out and these teachers are all FIRED.

That is right! They are liars - they are not sick!

And the protestors have also apparently stormed the personal homes of republicans and the Governor.

What peaceful people the leftie nuts are.

...add to all this, out of the almost 300,000 state employees, the unionized workers only make up about 10% of them, and the percentage of those employees in the private sector who are unionized is even less then that.

The president of the United States is inserting himself, and his group OFA, into state politics for just 10% of the state employees.

Wisconsin Teachers Prove Our Point

Union Protests Continue, Teachers Call In Sick Opposing WI Gov's Proposals | TPMDC

And then the final act of inappropriateness:

Shocking Vid: Wis. HS Students Admit Teachers Bringing Them to Protests but Don‘t Know Why They’re There | The Blaze

So, basically, the greedy teachers' unions are calling in sick so they can protest at a political rally, leaving the kids twisting in the wind. Some Milwaukee schools are closed today, and for the second day in a row, some schools are closed in Madison. I also heard that one of the universities is having a staff walkout later today...if I was a student there, I would be PO-ed due to having to pay tuition just to have the teacher not show up to make a point.

When did teachers become so greedy that they put their pay and benefits ahead of teaching students? This is a great argument for why 1) public sector employees should not be allowed to form unions and collectively bargain, 2) public schools cannot possibly provide the best education, at least if unions are as controlling as they are here, 3) unions should not be allowed for the "caring professions" like teachers and healthcare workers b/c it's a conflict of interest. It used to be that you take a public sector job or job in a "caring field" BECAUSE YOU CARE about what you're doing (teaching kids, stopping child abuse, helping the elderly, caring for sick people, etc.), not b/c you can make good money at it.

I would have put this in the WI subforum but this is making national news (it was on Fox this morning) and besides, it's an issue that could affect more than just WI if other states/unions follow suit.

Wisconsin Republicans were not in agreement with Democrat Governors who rewarded state unions for their votes with high pay , benefits and pensions.
The Republicans paid a higher tax while working as they did before . They wrote letters of disagreement , held tea parties , urged like minded thinkers to register to vote .
The hard work paid off , the Republicans are voted in fair and square . Of course the Republicans are going to do what the promised and reverse the union bribes the last government set forward .
If people don't like what the present Governor is doing , they can vote for someone else in four years , that's the American way.

NO ! Not for the state teachers union , they break the law by closing the schools , use the children to benefit their paycheck , surround the Governor's house with his children in it . What a disgrace . Then the President of the United States of America takes the side of the outlaws .

I think the teachers are but the first in a long line of government unions waiting in the wings to see what happens.

It is really unbelievable. The democrats and Obama are showing their true colors. The dems whom left are shirking their duty and they should all be replaced. And the teachers FIRED.

Apparently the Obummers campaign group, Organizing for America, has instigated and is aiding this protest.

I hope this provides Obummer with what he deserves come next election....10% of the vote.
