This obligation is paramount. Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable.
Franklin D. Roosevelt: Letter on the Resolution of Federation of Federal Employees Against Strikes in Federal Service

The governor is looking like a bleeding heart liberal on this one by still purposing these unions to bargain for wages and benefits if his proposal passes.

This is government in action? Or is this 4th grade?

Wisconsin Democrats Keep on the Move - WSJ.com

With no end to the standoff in sight, Mr. Walker said that if the Democratic senators don't return, he would consider cutting the funding that pays for their staff.

ROFL!

I wonder if people realize our news is World News and this is infantile.

Here's a picture of the protesters.

Nice.

P.S. Next time I protest, I wanna be candy necklace suit guy.
Tell these stupid a-holes to quit wasting money on bottled water and they can afford to chip in for their health care. I bet a lot of them grabbed a $3.00 latte on the way to the protest as well. No sympathy what so ever for these whining little babies. Welcome to the real world you "grabastic pieces of amphibian crap"- R Lee Ermy.

Indeed ... What a "Rogues Gallery" these blighters represent !

Who in their right mind would desire such as these to occupy positions of political leadership at any level ? What ?

For shame America ! Surely we can do better than this lot !!!

Listen up mates ... This is not the once proud and respected Democratic Party Mindset that we once had the pleasure of experiencing !!!

How utterly pitiful !

In 1943, a New York Supreme Court judge held:
To tolerate or recognize any combination of civil service employees of the government as a labor organization or union is not only incompatible with the spirit of democracy, but inconsistent with every principle upon which our government is founded. Nothing is more dangerous to public welfare than to admit that hired servants of the State can dictate to the government the hours, the wages and conditions under which they will carry on essential services vital to the welfare, safety, and security of the citizen. To admit as true that government employees have power to halt or check the functions of government unless their demands are satisfied, is to transfer to them all legislative, executive and judicial power. Nothing would be more ridiculous.

Their former purpose is outdated; now their purpose is to build voting blocks for the democrats.

but that is only because their membership allows it. What I don't understand is why union members can't think for themselves. Is it because you're threatened with physical harm? Obviously never been a member, so I don't know how it is on the inside. I wouldn't put it past a lot of those thugs. They are really no better than your average street gang. They employee the same tactics and are always in groups. Absolute cowards on their own, especially the leadership and yet people will follow them like the pied piper..

Many people I went to school with aspired to be a lazy POS and work in an auto plant. I have some relatives that also fit that same description. Hell, anyone in Michigan knew that the best place to get any drugs was at the local plant. I'll even admit it sounded like a good idea for about two seconds.. Luckily I didn't go that route and am now much more successful than I would've been.
Auto workers are the equivalent of monkeys? Wow! Just wow!

So the Supreme court hands massive political power to corporations and their PACs and weakens the political clout of the individual and the right shrugs, but unions... oh no... they're too self-serving and greedy.
Nice try. I WISH my employer had only cut my bennies. First of all, I was paying my own. So when business slowed down, I LOST my job. Couldn't cry to my union bosses. Couldn't whine to my state elected officials to beg them to skip town to protect me. Oh, I know. Someone union lackey will point out that I had been in a union, I would have kept my job. Exactly...which is why the state is broke now.

No. Instead, I realized that this is just a crappy economy, and it's the way things are.

Everyone that is FOR the protest is full of crap. They really think that taxpayers, who are struggling with their own finances, should pay for more of the union members' healthcare and pensions than the union members do themselves.

You want an uneducated and neglected generation making decisions about your welfare one day when you are old?
The teachers are proving that it is FAR from "about educating our children". If that were the case, their butts would be in their classrooms teaching. And if it's not about politics, why is the DNC and Obama getting involved?
