Well, the republican mandate from last election is showing. They've been hard at work on the problem, their #1 priority.

But, I thought that the REPUBLICAN LANDSLIDE fixed everything! That is what all of you said!

Just kidding of course. Our economic mess is long-term.

Employment Situation Summary

Bureau of Labor statistics says that the unemployment rate is 9%. Still far higher than it should be, but just note that the number you're citing is not the official BLS number.

But but but but, I thought the Pork Bill (aka Recovery Act) was supposed to create millions of shovel ready jobs soon after it was enacted!

Indeed they are. Cutting spending, eliminating the deficit, and paying down our debt will stimulate our economy and the create an atmposhere for the return of jobs more than any collective actions taken to date by the Obama administration.

'bamers has been in office how many years without a balanced budget while the Democrats controlled Congress?

President Obama is president of the country, he is not President of the economy. Every President has done things to affect the economy, some good, some bad. Obama has done some things right but most of it has not benefited the average person. I don't know of anything Bush2 did that was a good economic move for the middle class. Bush2's mistakes were not stopped by the left or the right and I doubt very much anyone will stop Obama's mistakes. Blaming Obama should be encouraged NOT because he caused the problem, but that his actions continue the problem.

In other words, let's put the economy in its proper perspective: it is a boat so large that it can take more than four years to change course. Two years of Obama isn't enough to gauge the proper reaction. However, we DO need to immediately seal off lower Manhattan and hang or shoot everybody on Wall Street that tries to escape. Be a Patriot! Kill a shareholder! 10 points for every board member! Such tactics could also be applied on a local level...
