Obviously capitalism is not the final economic arrangement for humans, and it would be the height of arrogance to assume we've come close to the "best" arrangement.

What do you think will be the next step after capitalism? What do you think the ideal system would be? Do you think the next step will be an improvement or a step down?

We don't have Capitalism now; rather, we have economic fascism. Therefore, what is your real question?

Exactly. It would seem that after Free Market Capitalism comes a corrupted Corporotacracy. The real question is, what comes after this?

The only essential features of capitalism are private ownership of the means of production, competition, wage labor, etc. We have all the essential features of a capitalist economy. Whether you think it's implemented fairly is another question.

Capitalism is the worst economic system that we have found that works.

Create a different one, we can debate it.

Economically we are much closer to a fascist state then laissez-faire capitalism. Mussolini, a former Marxist, tweaked Marxism. He was bright enough to realize that government bureaucrats were pretty poor at producing wealth but quite capable of confiscating wealth. We don't have a dictator--- yet.

The real question is what happens if Keynesianism collapses. Greece may give us a look at our future.

We no doubt are beyond capitalism and into a right wing corporatist/fascist state. I think it will continue to decline with greed trumping all, turning the nation into a neo-fascist state like we've never seen before. The middle class will be exterminated, the poor and very wealthy will really be the only classes, more and more $$ and power is all the elites work for,...

In alphabetical order; decadence.

We had capitalism until the beginning of the 20th century and it worked well.

Progressive's tried tweaking it to find "utopia".

There is no such thing.

Capitalism works!

There is no better system.

Free market capitalism died during Lincoln's time in the WH. What came after was corporatism.
