With gas expected to reach $5 a gallon by summer, is NOW the time to start drilling here, and the hell with what the environmentalist say or think?

In the words of Sarah Palin, DRILL BABY DRILL!!!

Take a surface area - it may support X amount of lifeforms.
Increase surface area - for example - by planting a forest. Now you have far more and varied lifeforms.

A beaver can dam a stream, make a pond, and 'thicken' the life bearing volume of the former meadow.

Manmade "thickening" via multistory construction is another example. A rudimentary implementation is a "Green roof", where soil is placed on flat roofs and planted.

An idea for high population density multiuse development:
Dual Ring Village : Ozmirage, Emerald City of Dreams (http://www.ozmirage.org/anic/tiki-index.php?page=Dual+Ring+Village - broken link)

The volume of life bearing habitat can be increased, by engineering, far more than preserving the status quo.

I'm praying that it will go to $6 per gallon within 5 years.

The higher the better.
Don't commute or travel a lot, huh?

Couldn't agree with you more.

I personally think we should drill more oil here, but at the same time we do need to build a few more (modern low polluting) refineries. Oil companies make more in profit every year than some countries, they can afford to invest.

Don't buy gas guzzling SUVs and gas prices won't be a problem.

I can't wait until gas prices go above $5 per gallon. I drive a 01 honda civic that gets great gas mileage so I can absorb the higher prices. Bring it on I say! It's the only way to force the economy to be more energy efficient. Let the market do the work and get government out of the way.

Default Drill baby drill!!!

Well, 2 years of nothing from Obama on energy independence in the form of producing more oil here right now. The middle east is a powder keg and we are not drilling in order to appease the enviro whackos. Hope the liberals are happy when gas is $5 a gallon and the prices of food skyrocket more than they already have.

You do realize that increased production of domestic petroleum will have little impact on a product whose price is set by global demand?

Wonder if the idiot in the WH is catching onto this mess?

His ban on drilling is going to further prove his lack of abilities to run anything.

When people have to pay 5.00 per gallon for gas it takes away even more money for them to spend on things they need.

It just proves Obama is either out to destroy America financially like I believe he is or he is dumb as a box of rocks. Could be both.

Lets see how long he takes to allow American to suffer even more under his watch.

Yes it's absolutely wacko to take care in the production of energy. Yes, we should just let the energy companies do whatever they want like destroying aquifers with fracking, cutting off mountaintops and pushing the dirt into rivers to choke the life out of them, and drilling in deep ocean waters as if there's no risk at all.

Oil companies don't want you or anyone else to come up with alternatives. They actually WANT us to pay $5 a gallon, yet you blame the "liberals" (are there no conservatives that have environmental concerns?) for the problem. Um, yeah, right...

I agree though we should have solar panels on our roofs, gardens in our backyards, bicycles with storage bins for when things get bad, and Obama should be reminded of the importance of our nation's survival.

"Drill baby Drill!" is not a solution. How can doing more of the same thing (and ratcheting it up) solve anything? Kind of like how our government just keeps spending when the spending IS the problem.

$5 Dollar a gallon Gas??? Should we Drill Baby Drill???
$1, $5 or $10, if we're not drilling for oil and gas, building nuclear reactors, setting up windfarms, excavating coal, building dams or whatever, we deserve everything we get if we choose to remain at the mercy of hostile cultures and their cartels.
